Homeschool Art (MS/HS, Wed)

8 and up $75 6 sessions

This six-week art course explores the question, “What is art?” through drawing, sculpture, character design, and collaborative storytelling. Participants will move from experimental 2D drawing into 3D sculpture before creating original masks or puppets and bringing their ideas to life through performance.

Designed for pre-teens, teens, and their families, this hands-on program encourages creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and artistic confidence. The focus is on the creative process rather than perfection, helping students discover that art can be intentional, accidental, functional, expressive, and shared. Families are welcome to participate together.

Learning Goals:

  • Explore many forms of art, including drawing, sculpture, character design, and storytelling.
  • Build confidence using a variety of art materials and tools safely.
  • Develop creative problem-solving and imaginative thinking.
  • Learn to transform 2D ideas into 3D forms.
  • Connect visual art to theater, storytelling, and creative careers.
  • Collaborate with others while creating original works of art.

Safety:

Students will receive instruction on the safe use of scissors, wire, and hot glue guns. Supervised glue stations, designated cool-down areas, and clear workspace expectations help create a safe and supportive learning environment.
